Slow Walking: Essential Exercise

Slow walking is the only exercise that does you no harm if done properly, that is with an attitude of love: with care, tenderness and fondness

In the coming age, slow walking will become and is already an essential exercise in order to reduce stress on the nervous system and build stamina. All other exercises stress the nervous system and this is the one system that is under most stress already in the modern world (see the articles “Information Overload and What to Learn” and “Pollution Can be Good for You”).

If done with an attitude of love, one's feet do not get tired in slow walking. Whilst walking, you should try and avoid thinking of particular topics. Instead, keep your mind calm, your eyes observant – see what is going on around you, reflect upon it, and then allow your mind to be in contact with the next present happening, not the past. Obviously you need to walk slowly, naturally. Your spine should be straight, mouth closed, do not look down. If the weather is cold, put your hands in your pockets, after some time you warm up and then have your hands out, arms and hands relaxed. A key aspect of slow walking is that you are not walking with deliberation. Your brain is not telling your legs what to do, it is as if they are walking on their own. You should be dressed so that you are a little cool when you start the walk nad then warm up after twenty minutes or so. Before walking it is a good idea to lie down and relax or have a nap so that you are fresh for the walking relaxation. When walking your tailbone should feel light and tucked in, your two shoulderblades should also be tucked in, teh energy in your spine should be rising. The back of the neck, head, throat, stomach should be relaxed. You should wear comfortable shoes, for example trainers with socks. When you are tired you should stop the slow walk. Come home and then relax again, putting your feet up.

A yogi, someone with only good karma (all his choices in his previous life have been good ones) does not need to fear danger. Everything that happens is controlled by God. God arranges all good things to happen whilst he walks wherever he wishes.

For the future, where natural calamities and crime will be common and may strike at any moment, some people will also choose to learn martial arts and attempt to become self-reliant. The danger for a yogi is less than for this person, the protection afforded by being with a yogi is greater. Thus there are two paths to dealing with a hostile terrain: love-dependency (as with yoga and love for God, for your husband) and violence-independency (as with martial arts, one becomes eventually independent of one's teacher). Only the first succeeds.

In a family context, slow walking should be done with the yoga expert in front, his oldest son next one metre behind, other sons next, the wife next and then the daughters. This is the traditional way of walking (mountain climbers, tribesmen, etc.). The strongest person (love or violence-wise) is in front, there being no or little danger on this account. The family members behind benefit from his energy fields. Walking hand in hand or side by side disturbs the energy field of the yoga expert and the protection afforded other members of the family is less.

Every adult male should try and become a yoga expert. Expertise is not difficult to gain and you need to read the section on “Yoga and Religion” in order to start your yoga practice, which consists mainly of helping others to become happy. You need to develop your health, become a man free from domination by woman and also become happy yourself.

Everyone, man, woman and child, should start slow walking for 1 hour per day.
