It is crucial for your future well being for you to develop a caring attitude to others, beyond your immediate family

The foundation of marriage, of religious life is caring. You are caring or not depending on your upbringing.

In Kali Yug (the period of the world which began in 325 BC), most people are not caring, and hence we see war and famine, ecological disaster, the Nazi holocaust etc.

A caring person starts out a relationship caring for the other person. This could be any kind of relationship, Goddess/man, God/woman, husband/wife, wife/husband, teacher/pupil...

Whether the relationship is worth maintaining is an important question for the parties concerned. Any true relationship can be destroyed by lack of caring and it is your duty not to be burdened with relationships where the other person does not care for you or, despite your caring for him or her, does not develop a caring attitude to you.

In the case of God, OM, He is the Soul of everyone's Soul. He recognizes that caring for Him is difficult for man and woman. He therefore continues to care for you whilst you care for others other than your own husband or wife and immediate family and have not harmed others in your life. In the Bhagavad Gita, it is also noted that God gives special care to those who do not have anyone who cares for them.

Clearly, the law of karma applies and as usual God also gives to everyone what they need to follow the path of light.

You are on the path of light and happiness whilst God cares for you, and have stepped off that path when He does not. Equally, you are on that path whilst you care for others, and not when you do not.

What does it mean, to care for someone? It means that you will put yourself out for him or her and do things for him or her if they ask you to do it for them.

It is your manipuraka chakra, the emotional centre behind the navel that needs to be worked on to release the energies required for you to become a caring person. Your abdomen needs to become soft like butter. Weight lifting, abdominal work, operations, etc. are contra-indicated if you wish to follow the path of light.

Equally, it is very important for you, if you wish to follow the path of light, to break off and distance yourself from family members who do not care for you. These members will disturb your heart energy centre, the anahata chakra, and you will waste time searching for love rather than developing the divinity in you.
